What is a hotel property management system (PMS)?

A hotel property management system, or PMS, is the software a property uses to run its daily operations: reservations, check-in and check-out, room allocation, housekeeping, invoicing and reporting. It holds the master record of every booking, which is why every other system connects to it. VISIT offers three cloud-based PMS options – All-in-One, Core and Lite – so the system matches the size and complexity of the property instead of forcing a fit.

What is the difference between a PMS, a channel manager and a booking engine?

They do three different jobs. A property management system (PMS) runs your operations and holds the master record of every reservation. A booking engine takes bookings directly on your own website, commission-free. A channel manager pushes your rates and availability out to OTAs such as Booking.com and Expedia and pulls their bookings back in. Most properties need all three, and the value comes from them sharing one live inventory rather than three that drift apart.

Which VISIT PMS is right for my property?

VISIT offers three. PMS All-in-One, powered by VisBook, suits resorts and properties running spa, restaurant or activities alongside rooms. PMS Core, powered by Godo Property, suits hotels, cabin villages and campsites that need a modern operational core. PMS Lite, powered by BookVisit Frontdesk, suits smaller properties that mainly need a straightforward digital front desk. All three are cloud-based and connect to the same booking engine, channel manager and payment tools.

How much does a hotel PMS cost?

The cost of a hotel property management system depends on three things: the size of your operation in rooms or units, which modules you switch on, and the one-time work to get you live – configuration, data migration and staff training. VISIT prices modularly rather than in packages, so you pay for the parts you use. Expect a one-time setup cost plus a recurring licence fee, the same structure VISIT states openly for its channel manager.

How long does it take to implement a new hotel PMS?

There is no single number, and any vendor quoting one without seeing your setup is guessing. Implementation time is set by how much data has to move and how many modules you switch on: a smaller property on PMS Lite goes live quickly, while a resort migrating rooms, spa, restaurant and years of reservation history into PMS All-in-One takes considerably longer. VISIT's onboarding team runs configuration, data migration and training, and gives you a dated plan before you commit.

Can we switch PMS without losing our existing bookings and guest data?

Yes. Migrating historical reservations, guest profiles and rate structures out of your current system is a standard part of VISIT's onboarding rather than something you arrange yourself. The sequence matters more than the software: forward bookings are moved and reconciled before cut-over, so there is never a window where two systems both hold live availability and a double booking can slip through. Ask for the migration plan in writing before signing – with any vendor.

What is the best PMS for a small hotel or guesthouse?

For a small hotel, guesthouse or B&B, the right property management system is the one your team can run without training days. VISIT PMS Lite, powered by BookVisit Frontdesk, covers check-in and check-out, room allocation, housekeeping status and payments in one web interface, and is built for properties with no full PMS in place today. If you also run a restaurant or spa, PMS Core is the better starting point.

Does the PMS work for campsites, cabins and other non-hotel accommodation?

Yes. VISIT PMS Core is used by cabin villages and campsites as well as hotels, and PMS All-in-One handles resorts running rooms alongside spa, restaurant and activities. For agencies managing cabins, apartments and holiday homes on behalf of owners, VISIT has a separate vacation rental product. Choose by operational complexity rather than by what the property type is called – a 30-unit cabin village often needs more system than a 60-room hotel.
