The Whale is a knowledge and experience centre in Andenes, Northern Norway, opening in June 2027. Through a multitude of different ways, visitors can learn about and discover the hidden world of whales and the oceans they inhabit in an experience unlike any other. The Whale is a place where architecture, nature, science, art and dialogue come together in one of the world’s most important whale habitats. Tickets are now bookable on The Whale’s website, thanks to the VISIT platform.
VISIT has had the honour and pleasure of creating a brand-new, custom-made website in advance of The Whale’s opening, where visitors can explore and learn more about the experience before their arrival. A fully integrated booking system is built into the website, allowing potential visitors to easily plan and then book their visit in one logical booking flow. Visitors are able to book single entry tickets, packages, and add-ons in the same flow, allowing for a pleasant user experience and giving The Whale possibilities and opportunities for upsell across the booking journey.
Børre Berglund, CEO of The Whale, explained their reasoning for choosing the VISIT Platform. “For The Whale,” he explains “it has been important to establish a digital sales and booking solution that is simple and intuitive for our guests, while also giving us the flexibility and control we need in our sales work. We are set to reach an international market and will be handling individual travellers, groups and bookings through partners, which places high demands on the solution.”

In VISIT, we have found a partner that understands both the tourism industry and our needs, and that has worked closely with us throughout the development process.
Still to come in early 2027 is the installation of VISIT’s point of sales systems and entry management hardware, the latter together with our partner Skidata, before the grand opening in Summer 2027. The Whale will also work with agent bookings and CRS distribution, helping position Andenes as Norway’s next must-visit destination.
As Børre Berglund concludes, “We look forward to developing the solution further together ahead of the opening of The Whale in June 2027” – something that the team at VISIT wholeheartedly concurs with.
